Get Amy's on your Campus!

Amys

A happy Amy's fan and University of San Francisco student

Something’s been cooking on campuses nationwide for sometime now. Students, dining directors, managers of c-stores (convenience stores on campus) and school administrators have requested Amy’s products on their campus. As the old saying goes, “If you build it they will come.” Well, Amy’s has sure arrived at colleges and universities all over the nation and it really is because our student/consumers are passionate about Amy’s.

With over 500 Colleges and Universities, placing Amy’s and counting, students from the likes of: Duke University, Brigham Young University, University of Pennsylvania, Rutgers University, University of California at Berkeley, to name a few have all adopted a healthier way of eating on campus. Student’s lifestyles seem to include Amy’s passion for healthy living. Amy’s recognizes that food affects the way you feel and students are demanding an alternative to the dinning hall options. They are speaking out demanding products that are quick, healthy, and of course, taste great.

“Students are really asking for Amy’s products on campus,” says Craig Forrest, Amy’s Kitchen Campus Business Development Manager. They’re passionate and that passion is rewarded in many ways. After emailing, craigforrest@amyskitchen.net to have Amy’s products on campus, the student is then instructed to provide a contact, the contact’s phone number and the best time to call the C-store on campus. Next Amy’s will send to the student an Amy’s gift package.

“It’s really amazing how tenacious the students are when trying to place Amy’s on campus.” says Craig Forrest. He surmises that Generation Y, which was brought up eating Amy’s at home, is now demanding it on campus because that’s what they want and that’s what they’re used to. Dining directors and administrators are listening. Overall the success at the campus level is grass roots and fueled by the students. Students choose Amy’s for a number of different reasons but the universal reason among all students is…it taste great because it’s made with love and fueled by passion. What a winning combination!

Dear Amy,
Amy's KitchenThank goodness my university stocks your frozen burritos and microwave meals in the convenience shop! On days when I don't have anything to pack for lunch, your convenient meals save me from cafeteria fast food! Thanks for creating something so yummy and so healthy! (p.s. I just found out that you now have Samosas--I'm so excited to try them!)

Dear Amy,
I cannot tell you how amazed I am at the quality of your meals. I eat them everyday for 2-3 meals and I never get tired of them! I am a college student, so I don't have much money or time to spend cooking a full meal all of the time. This way, I get a delicious, wholesome, healthy meal in about 5 minutes! Thank you so much, Amy's!

Dear Amy,
On a whim, I picked up Black Bean and Southwestern Burritos for lunch. I heated the black bean one first and was AMAZED at the smell Amy's Kitchencoming from the microwave (typically, when I try "experimental" food smells like something died.) Walking to my desk, I figured if the burrito smelled that good, it probably won't taste as good. Oh man, was I wrong! Co-Workers came up to my desk asking what smelled so good. When I told them what it was, they were as surprised as I was. Not only was it deeeeelicious, I wasn't hungry again in a few hours. The result of the Southwest tasting at lunch prompted me to send this letter.
Thank you for making such yummy "fast food".

Amy's KitchenDear Amy,
Thank you to all for creating such a convenient source of healthy, balanced, organic vegetarian meals right at the palm of my hands. As a college student, I find it hard to make time to cook or prepare meals from scratch (although I love doing it). But thanks to Amy’s that takes one less stress off my shoulder! My two favorite meals are the Tofu Scramble and Brown Rice & Veggies Bowl. Keep up the good work, and thanks again!

Amy's KitchenDear Amy,
I just want to say thanks for having healthy easy to prepare vegan options for a busy girl like myself. I am always on the go between school and work. I enjoy your products. To the parents of Amy, you guys rock, starting the company so you could have wholesome foods for you and your family and sharing the concern for other people as well. Well I think I might pop in a pizza (Amy’s) and enjoy the beautiful weather.

Thanks a bunch! Brittany

Dear Amy,
Let me start out by saying how much I love your food! I have been a vegetarian for 10 months now and your meals have helped me out so much! Living at college and being vegetarian was difficult. I had to give-up my meal plan (there were hardly any healthy meatless options) so I could make my own healthy food. Cash was always tight; but your foods are inexpensive, delicious, healthy, and filling! I also admire that you have vegan meals; one day I plan to go vegan and I am happy that I can still continue supporting your company and enjoying your wonderful food!

Thank you for your food,
Ashley

Amy's KitchenDear Amy,
Hello to whoever reads this at Amy's Kitchen,

I've been meaning to take the time to send a thank you to your company for providing a healthy and delicious array of meal options for myself andmany of my friends at the Eastman School of Music.  Those of us who feed ourselves primarily with our University of Rochester dining plan have very few opportunities to eat meals made entirely of natural ingredients that are sensibly flavored by herbs and spices (instead of using frying oil, salt, or nothing whatsoever).  We live, study, practice, rehearse, and perform largely within 1 city block in downtown Rochester, NY.  The restaurant and food service options are extremely limited, yet we exhaust ourselves mentally and emotionally every day working to hone our abilities as expressive musicians.  Frankly, ever since my university's dining services began stocking Amy's frozen food products, they have made up at least 60-70% of my diet here at Eastman. I especially love your "Baked Ziti," "Country Cheddar," and "Santa Fe" Bowls.  Not to mention the ravioli, the various forms of lasagna, and the "Indian kitchen" series...  If it weren't for the Amy's products available in the freezers at my school's dining establishments, I would frequently be left hungry, lacking a viable healthy alternative to the processed, unflavored, or outright unhealthy options, which might otherwise predominate.

Thanks a bunch!
Keep the good food coming!
Sincerely,
Leah

Amy's KitchenDear Amy's Kitchen family,
I am writing to tell you how much I enjoy your healthy, convenient, and delicious products. As a college student, it is difficult to find nutritious meal and snack items that are convenient and conducive to the healthy lifestyle I am trying to maintain. Thank you for your wonderful products especially the bowls, burritos, and entrees, I love them all!  Please keep up the great work and I will continue to recommend your products to my family and friends.

Dear Madam:

My name is Rose Wilson, and I am an eigth grader at Dorseyville Middle School. I am writing to you about your pizza, which is nothing short of great!

I am a huge fan of your organic cheese pizza. It fulfills all of my wishes to finally find healthy and delicious pizza. When I think of organic, I think, "get me the real thing!" But, this is better than any pizza I have ever tasted. It gives me something quick and easy to make when I am in a time crunch. It also gives me something to make on those late nights.

It is my pleasure to tell you that everything about this pizza is fabulous. I have not tried any of your other foods, but I am sure they are delicious too. Do you have any recommendations for any of your other foods?

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. I hope I hear back from you! Happy cooking.

Sincerely,
Rose Wilson

Dear Amy's Kitchen,

I just wanted to thank you for making such a wonderful product. As a college student, I have been practically living off of frozen dinners for the last four years. This year, my university began stocking Amy's products, and for the first time I am actually excited to eat dinner!

Every meal that you make is excellent and healthy too. I have tried numerous brands of frozen foods, and I can honestly say that Amy's Kitchen is by far the best. Each meal is something that I would have made for myself if I could cook in the dorm. I look forward to trying more of your products. Thank you very much!

Sincerely,

Dear Amy's,
Amy's KitchenI am writing to give a big THANK YOU from the University of Illinois. Like most college students, I am both a horrible cook and very pressed for time. Thanks to Amy's I can microwave a meal on the go and still get a great amount of dietary fiber! I don't know what I would do without you!

Dear Amy,
I attend the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and we've just recently added an organic and natural foods store to campus. I'm already in favor of natural and organic products but when I tried your frozen foods I turned ecstatic! I don't have a lot of time when I need to eat and so I often have to Amy's Kitchengrab something not too expensive and quick. Your pockets have been the answer--I love, love, love your spinach pizza pockets because they taste delicious and I know that I'm putting something healthy into my body. I've also had the spinach lasagna and cheese/bean burrito. They are just exactly what I need during my day and I'm so glad that there is a company like you making products like this available to people like me! People who maybe have a microwave and only a little time but still want to eat healthy. Thanks again for providing your delicious food. I will continue recommending your food to all my friends as a way to support you, the university's decision to provide more food options, and to keep us feeling healthy!

Dear Amy's kitchen cooks,
I just finished eating your vegetable pot pie meal and I cannot tell you how super dooper amazing it was!! Not only was it amazing but I was thrilled to read on the package that it was made with all organic ingredients. I am a vegetarian college student and I am currently obsessive compulsive about eating healthful, organic foods – especially since the college environment doesn't provide students with very healthy options :( Not only that but with my busy schedule the frozen dishes are excellent for me here at school. I am now hooked on your vegetarian pot
pie and eager to try your other vegetarian products!
Thank You for doing what you do!

Best, Jessica

I am a college student, and I love your foods. I am a vegan of two years, and when there is nothing I can eat at the cafe I come back to my room and have one of your veggie burgers or burritos. I just tried your black bean and corn salsa and I loved it. I really enjoy your soups as well, they make a good night snack. I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate how you have made vegan food that is easy to make and scrumcious!

Amy's KitchenDear Amy,
Amy's organic food is the best!!! I am in college and have limited time to cook...which usually means eating something unhealthy. However, these dinners are quick and healthy...and soooooo good!! It is like I am having a home-cooked meal with ingredients that I can actually read. I have also been able to maintain my weight eating the entrees for dinner. I am a huge fan!!

Amy's KitchenDear Amy,
I'm a senior at the University of Florida and I've been eating Amy's Pizzas and Burritos since the very beginning. I've got a Pesto Pizza in the oven right now and I'm so exited to eat it.

Thank you for giving students healthy and TASTY meals. I'm so grateful.

Amy's KitchenDear Amy's,
As a freshman in college , I was placed in an on-campus apartment building and left to cook for myself! I was far from a dining hall and short on time, so I went to Shaw's every week and bought a variety of Amy's meals and stocked my freezer. I especially love the teriyaki bowl! As a vegetarian and Environmental Science major, I love that all of your meals are vegetarian and organic. I am so thankful for your meals because I know they'll always be delicious and healthy. Thanks so much!
Jamie

Hi there!
I just wanted to drop you a note to say Thank You! I'm a vegan college student, and I don't know what I would DO without Amy's products. My school, USC, started selling Amy's burritos and entrees in the freezer last year and now we are all in heaven.

Well done on filling the vegan frozen food gap!

Sincerely,
Helena

My name is Renee and I'm a student at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I was part of a student panel during spring of 2003 to discuss what Chartwell's (our dining service provider) could bring on campus that would better serve the students and would satisfy the health food needs.

Various organic and vegetarian meals, food, and companies were discussed and I was pleasantly surprised to see Amy's frozen meals at our campus convenience store for the fall! Bringing it back to my dorm, I found that the Amy's meal was better than what I've had at some restaurants, had fresh vegetables, no over-processed frozen food taste, and residents on my floor complimented on how good it looked several times while I was eating.

The story of Amy's and its family roots makes it a company I want to continue to support even further and one I hope that Chartwell's at UW-Whitewater will continue to purchase products from.

Thank you and keep up the fantastic work!
Renee

November 2003:

Hello, my name is Jessica Prus and I am a student at Northwestern University who was recently diagnosed with gluten-intolerance. I was very worried about my ability to stay on the meal plan and be gluten-free until my campus convenience store (at Plex dining hall) started carrying Amy's. Thank you so much for this program!! This has made my life so much easier. I hope that this relationship between my school and your company
will continue and grow.

Subject: Update on first year sales of Amys products

Joel, thought you would be interested to see how we did our first year with Amys Frozen Entrees (185 cases), Pizza (66 cases), Enchiladas (122 cases), and Burritos (29 cases). For a total of 402 cases. Amys product was well received and students who purchased it, LIKED IT. As a reminder please keep in mind that my sales year is only 32 weeks long.

The second part of this is let you know that Because of the success we had with the Amys frozen items that I would like to expand into Amys shelve stable soups, beans & chilies, and pasta sauce. Have already started to work with my supplier (Amster-Kurtz 330-493-1800) to bring in these products. I was wondering if it was possible to receive samples and point of sale material like you have sent me in the past. This is for the shelve stable product mentioned above.

Joel again I'd like to thank you for helping me introduce an excellent
product to our student population, Thank You!!!!!!!!!
